Pintupi-Luritja man Lemih Thompson is a self taught vocalist, pianist and drummer. He started playing gospel music when he was 9 with people from Watiyawanu (Mount Leibig) and Ikuntji (Haasts Bluff). Having grown up in the remote community of Kiwirrkurra located within the Gibson Desert, the desert is Lemih’s home and the traditions of his culture are very much a part of his every day life.
His influences draw from the likes of the Saltwater Band and Lucky Dube.
As well as performing as a solo artist, Lemih is a member of the Irrunytju Band as a keyboard player.
Connecting with other Aboriginal musicians & making music with family is really important to Lemih. He describes his part in the Therrka Endangered Languages Music Series as one of his proudest moments and wants to take his music to as many people and places as possible.
