(I searched in Shechem for my older brothers)

Tnunthaka Shechem-ala.                      
(And our animals)

Kaartala antja nakala,                               
(It was my father’s wish)

Nuka katjia kurrka-ka.                          
([Though] I was younger than the others)

Yinga tanhala ingkakala,                           
(There, I prayed)

Para lyuntjala naka.                                    
(in the shade of the gum tree)

Kaly-iperra pitjerraka                                 
(All my older brothers come)

Yinganha’ kurnilitjika.                               
(To harm me)

Etna iwurrerrakala                                      
([But] they threw me)

Yinganh’ kwatja ngarr-urna    
(Into the well)

Yinga trerraka-erruka                                
(I became very frightened)
