Desert Mulga

Desert Mulga

Formed in 1998 and a household name throughout the Central Desert, Desert Mulga is the quintessential desert reggae band.
Wailing guitar solos, upbeat drums, an incessant off beat ‘skank’ on rhythm guitar and rich retro synth lines make up the Desert Reggae sound.
Desert Mulga has recorded at Warlpiri Media & CAAMA, as well as in their home community of Nyirrpi. Their songs have featured on the Tanami Tracks and Yapa Beats I & II albums, the soundtrack for the film Samson and Delilah and the compilation album Snapshot I by CAAMA Music.
Desert Mulga won first prize at the Yuendumu Road Safety Song Contest in May 2011 and performed at the Bush Bands Bash in 2010 and 2012.
Their debut album ‘Tangapa Yanu’ will be released on CAAMA Music’ new Therrka label, with an album launch on 12 March 2015  at the Memo Club in Alice Springs.
